Current Work
Dr Leanne Hayward (MBChB, MRCPsych, MSc, BSc, ILM-7 Executive Coach) is a UK-trained Medical Doctor, Consultant Psychiatrist and Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists. Following her 20+ years’ experience as an NHS clinician, Mental Health Psychiatrist and leader, she founded her private practice in 2020 based on the belief that more can – and should – be done to identify and treat mental ill health, improving outcomes for individuals, organisations and the wider community.
Dr Hayward provides a range of specialist psychiatry services and expertise to private patients, organisations and the media.
Experience and Qualifications
Medical training
Dr Hayward took her initial undergraduate medical training at Leicester Medical School. She completed an intercalated BSc Hons research degree in 1998, graduating with her medical degree in 2001.
After working in a number of medical specialties including psychiatry, palliative care and public health in the Midlands, Dr Hayward took her formal post-graduate Psychiatry training in Bristol and achieved membership of RCPsych in 2010.
Leadership and executive coaching
In 2014 Dr Hayward graduated from Warwick Business School with an MSc in Medical Leadership (Distinction), later holding roles as a local NHS Medical Lead and NHS England Regional Perinatal Clinical Lead.
To complement her clinical leadership expertise, Dr Hayward has additional training as an ILM-7 Executive Coach, enabling her to support wider organisational and individual development.
NHS career
Prior to starting her private practice in 2020, Dr Hayward has almost two decades of experience as a mental health psychiatrist in various NHS roles that date back to 2001.
Dr Hayward was appointed to her first NHS Consultant post in 2014 as a Liaison Psychiatrist at Great Western Hospital, Swindon, where she led a team providing psychiatric care to working age and older adult patients in the Acute General Hospital. Within two years, she was appointed Acting Medical Lead for Swindon.
In 2016 she was appointed Perinatal Clinical Lead for Avon & Wiltshire Partnership NHS Trust and led the design, launch, delivery and expansion of a new NHS England-funded Specialist Community Perinatal Mental Health service, serving Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire.
From 2017-2019 she was appointed NHS England Clinical Lead for the South West Perinatal Clinical Network.
